When I am on call or at work and driving in my "office" other than the road, this is the most looked at object in my car. The scanner is going constantly. I just got this from work two weeks ago.
On Thursday I spent a quiet day shopping. The after xmess rush is done and it is safe to go into the stores again. I went down Metcrap avenue in O.P. and on my way back up I snapped a picture of this landmark on the north part of Metcrap. It is the White Haven Motor Lodge, which is named after the family that owns it, the Whites, it is not a statement about segregation in Overland Park. Anyway, this sign is a great landmark. There are other great examples of googie in this area. I hope to eventually get pictures of all of them.
Here is the backside of our new house. Today we closed on our house. Suyen worked overnight at MTN, and only got about an hours worth of sleep. We went into Blue Springs to the title company to sign. Man, I got writers cramp from that. The housewarming party is TBA. Until then, there is a little cleaning to do and moving. We met the sellers as they were getting the last of their stuff. We also met the neighbors who all came out to introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood.
Here is my "office" parked in the back of the house.
This is the downstairs rec room. There is a little exercise area around the corner there.
This is the downstairs fireplace.
This is the exercise/karoake/band room/stripper room (note the pole).
This is the great room -- the upstairs living room with the fireplace.
This is looking towards the east, with the skylights and the front door.
This is the Kitchen. We have to get a new fridge;(
Here is another view of the backside of the house. It was built in 1983. The neighborhood -- Hidden Lakes, is full of these modern contemporary houses. I call this Late Century Modern.
