It's not Christmas, without the Teehaus!

Many years ago I had a dream that I was away in a distant town on Christmas Day with no family all alone. I wandered the town looking for something to ease my loneliness, and found the Teehaus, which happened to be open, warm and welcoming. Ever since then I have earmarked one day to come to the Teehaus to go Christmas shopping. They have many neat gift items there and a wide selection of teas and coffees. I recommend to anyone that if you want to get in the Christmas spirit find that warm place. If it is somewhere that you grew up with, then that is a bonus. However, most of us don't have that luxury. So find a suitable substitute. Not only does it get you out of the rat race of commercialized X-mess, but it also enables you to spread the love around by supporting a local business. Today I got some good stuff at the Teehaus, as always. I also found a mid-century modern lamp.

Today we started out bright and early. We got up and I took Suyen to work. She had a big inspection at work today, which was horrible timing. We got the contract via fax from Jania. I had to go to Crave for breakfast and wait awhile but it finally came. However, at that time Suyen was in the middle of the inspection. She was able to break away so we could sign the contracts. I joked that the signers of the Declaration of Independence didn't have to write so much on so many carefully worded documents. It was stressful, but we got it done and faxed back. I found out later that the sellers have signed, so we are good. I was free to go do my Christmas thing at the Teehaus, so I blitzed on down there via 50 highway.

These first two pictures were taken by John Williams, one of my peers back in March 2006....

The Teehaus has been open in its present form since 1969.

Ok, I didn't realize what we had created until I hung the lamp up and took the picture from this angle. Eeeerie!!!!! The Starburst clock I got from Architectural salvage in KC for $95.00. The Flying Saucer lamp I got at the Teehaus for $40.00. It illuminated their selections of teas behind the bar for years before I came along. Sandy joked that I was trying to take the Teehaus with me bit by bit.
