Today it was Nancy and I. We were originally going to do a nice and warm insided story on KCMO school closings, but they postponed the meeting, so we got assigned to weather. We were going to do the annual winter preps story at a friendly hardware store, but got called back to do a front lawn liveshot on the conditions. We had fun with it employing the icy windshield of my blazer as a prop. Oh yeah, the cherry bomb has been fixed -- bad battery and some other problems. Then it was off to the winter races, down 71 Highway to Grandview because we heard it was bad that way - well, maybe during rush hour, but not at the time we made the trek. So we got to our goal with no troubles and shot some man on the streets interviews in the Truman Corners parking lot. Then we got some b-roll along 71 and in downtown Grandview. Then we went in search of a livetruck and a location. It is pretty tricky for us getting out live down there as there is a huge garbage pile between us and the tower. So we finally met Phil at the Truman Corners parking lot after some stress and consternation. We edited two vo/sots, went on for 9. We had a live for Dallas at 21:45, almost forgot to feed back our 10 vo/sot, went on for 10 and froze our you-know-whats off. Actually I was ok wearing my trusty air force arctic parka. I just need some good gloves I can work in. Nancy had the wrong shoes and had to borrow mine to keep her feets warm. The mast did not freeze, and we helped Phil tear down and followed him home as those live vans are nororiously bad to drive in the snow. Suyen has work in MTN til the wee hours of the morning. I killed time by escorting Nancy home -- she was nervous about the trip home in her little car, so I offered. On the way back I shot some Populux on Wornall. I had some KCMO PD looking at me funny, but oh well. I am at the station now killing time by blogging.
Here's a link to our lives.
