I went to the Negro Leagues Museum where they were having a garage sale of surplus autographed uniforms and other items. It is a big money raiser for them. On the way in I snapped this picture of the Gem Theater across the street.
I was sent down to Belton by Paul to try and get a picture or information on a UMKC student who disappeared in Chicago. He is from Belton. I sat here while I tried to figure out where I was supposed to go, and I contacted the father by phone, and set up an interview for later.
On the way out of Belton, I caught this classic googie on the main drag through town.
I was shooting a girl scout event at the activities center. On the way back I got this shot on 19th and Vine.
I love that old sign.
I was on vo patrol today, but my last assignment was to shoot Bob's liveshot at KCMO police headquarters. Bob met this interesting old homeless guy who had neat stories to tell. We were also being cased by a crackhead who kept walking by us real slow. The old guy said that that guy was a crackhead who was looking for an opportunity to steal our stuff.
Here is a link you can cut and paste that shows my liveshot:

But wait! My day wasn't over yet. I went home and had a deeelicious leftover meal prepared by Suyen. Then much to her chagrin and devious attempts to thwart my efforts -- I took a nap so that I could wake up around midnight, and head in to the city. My goal was to go to the all night Mutual Musicians Jam. Suyen tried to keep me from doing it by turning off my alarms and keeping me awake to no avail. I got up about midnight, dressed and headed in. My first stop was YJ's. I hung out and had some coffee and just generally supported their new weekend hours which I am in favor of. They are now 24 hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Here is a slideshow of the pix I took this night, plus two from today at YJ's....
Here's the link in case that doesn't work -- just cut and paste...

I dropped the tapes I shot and the information I got with Michelle, the weekend morning producer. I was glad to find out later that John Haiduk, one of the best photojournalists in Kansas City, took on the task of turning my rough raw footage into a great nat's package. I think he did a great job. What do you think? Here's the link....

So after getting caught up on my sleep all morning, and having a delish meal fixed again by Suyen -- who was a little cross that I didn't make church with her this morning, I headed into woik. I was with Rob today. A 54 year old man was putting Christmas lights up when he fell off his ladder. It doesn't look good...
