We've just come back from Lawrence. We had a really nice time. The weather was beautiful. I got to walk Tima all over the place in between times when kids/women/etc. are fawning all over her saying how cute a dog she is and asking what breed is she. Suyen fell into the Gap while Tima and I had our moment (okay -- my moment) of zen at the train station north of the river. Ahhh spring. Suyen and I went to Jade Mongolian, then we went to Half-assed Books where I found more train vids -- woo hooo -- er woo woooo! Then we went back downtown for some I scream at Sylas and Maddies before heading homo. Suyen was to tard for kawfeee.

I didn't shoot any of it, I just edited it.
Today was hawt, and my GL-2 is acting up. I feel behind in everything I am doing.
We were doing our liveshot at the Isle of Capri casino when I caught this westbound on the KCS.
Then an eastbound coal unit train heading, I think, for the power plant with a load of Powder River coal.

Sonday I woiked with Bob on a fire that killed one person in KCK. It looks like arsonarson, and hence, murder...
Suyen and I et at California pizzeria for din din...
Suyen chowing down at California Pizzaria.
It is supposed to be a severe weather day. I am ready for the chase I hope. I am frustrated because my dashcam's power supply broke yesterday. I have to borrow a station dv camera and we ordered a new power supply. We'll see how the weather goes...
Tess' story for Moanday which I shot and edited.

In many ways I admire the military way of doing things. If a failure occurs, it is assumed automatically that the failure happened because the person at the top hasn't done or accomplished his/her mission. Then the term "the shit rolls downhill" takes over. Unfortunately, it seems, in the business world, that the least competent people rise to a level of supervision and responsibility and they just stay in that position accumulating tenure to the point that they become the immovable obsticle that people have to work around, not with. There is no excuse for communications breakdown in any business. The fingers point directly at the managers. THEY are the condiuts of communication. Weasel phrases such as "you (meaning the worker) simply need to learn how to communicate better" just simply do not cut it. Such phrases are just catch terms that people who have become adept at shucking responsibilty use to duck and deny. It is simple. YOU HIRE PEOPLE. YOU TRAIN PEOPLE. YOU SUPERVISE PEOPLE. IF THE PEOPLE FAIL AT THEIR MISSION, THEN ULTIMATELY YOU ARE THE ONE TO BLAME. THAT IS WHY YOU ARE PAID THE BIG BUCKS TO BE A MANAGER. GET WITH IT OR GET OUT!!!! I think that training is 80 percent of management. Think about it. When people are properly instructed and supervised, there will be no communications problems. People will know what to do and will ask when they don't. Also people will know that it is unfair to ask everyone to be mind readers to figure out what is needed. In other words, open your FREAKING mouth and communicate!!!!
Yesterday at work was a storm chase day, supposedly. Turned out be kind of a bust. Sherita and I covered a koala theft from the Hyvee on Englewood.
We were supposed to go storm chasing in the evening, but as I said, the weather kind of went bust. Due to some communication problems we never really got out. However, all my instincts at chasing tell me that if we had been out in it, we might have caught up to the damage in Holden before midnight. Oh yeah, the Holden area got hit again. Most probably it was straight line winds.

Today we got the thing to work. We used it on air. I was on 291 heading for Lee's Summit chasing a storm that had a tornado warning in Cass County, but it was weakening. We used it for a bumpback during Mike's weather. Earlier I worked with Linda. We got to ride along with the highway patrol. This week is aggressive driving week. They are going after bad drivers.

Turdsday I woiked in the afternoon on Mic in the Metro. I shot the liveshots with Karly. I went to Nebraska Furriture Mart to look at their fire sales. I snuck off to YJ's in the middle of the night. I saw Roy and did some writing. Suyen got mad at me thinking that I'm sneaking around.
Fried Day I was to go to the trailer and then we were going to have din din with the parents. I called the warranty people on problems with the house. We have a mini waterfall when it rains hard that we just discovered in the basement. We have various outlets that don't work and a light fixture that quit. We also have a washer with broken knobs. The warranty will only do the outlets and fixture -- duh. So we have to figure out the waterfall in the basement. So I burned all morning and most of the afternoon on the phone. Then I went to Redneck Sales Outlet with Tima, and then to the trailer to find gas cans (which I think are already at the house -- duh), the bird feeder and my video cam. I found the feeder. The dog and I were to go pick Suyen up and then to go to parents. Well, the whole time I was watching some interesting weather. It wasn't supposed to go severe. It looked like a straight line of storms came blowing in -- not much wind. But after they went to the east, a bunch of discreet cells started forming and going into the severe limits and, also rotating -- YIKES!!! When a tornado warning was issued for Johnson County Kansas, the chase was on. I had to get the thing hooked up to the station, which was hard for some reason -- get some gas and race south. Needless to say, din din was off. I ended up catching up to the screamin' eagle storm east of Nevada, and saw one funnel cloud, but it was too weak to do anything. So then the long trek back to face the mad misses -- ooops. I got KFC for us for dinner and put poor Tima out in the yard -- she didn't get her walk -- just a long car ride.
