Kim and I did on Saturday.
Sunday I worked with Rob on an 82 year old man who fell in the ice on Moanday at his store in Independence.
Moanday, I did vo patrol and helped John with a problem solvers segment. I eng'd lives for John and Tess.
Tuesday I edited another Nancy Lewis piece
on the family that believes in faith healing.
Tess and I had a story about the KCMO school district debating weather or not to get rid of middle schools. The school superintendant came to the meeting held at Paseo High school to give his views on it.
Winter is so harsh, yet beautiful. I mean, every task takes so much longer and is so hard to accomplish in winter, but yet, when you stop and take in the sights, oh the things you see. I tried to quickly get some pix of trees in our back yard coated with ice before it all melted.
Our new house sits on a hill, so we can see down through the trees to the neighbors below.
On Friday 19 January, we went to Nebraska Furniture Mart and got a dining room set for our bedroom (kidding, we got it for our dining room). With help from our neighbors we got the heavy stuff in the proper room. It took some doing as it didn't exactly fit through the front door. With some dismantling and coaxing, and a nearly busted window, we finally got it. To celebrate the next day, Suyen fixed a special candlelight dinner of turkey drumsticks, rice and veggies.
Mmmmm.
Our dining room is nearly complete.
The predicted snow started to fall in the afternoon. The ice was mostly melted, which was nice.
This is our dining room.
Suyen finally figured out what this cloth is for.
Here is the view towards the kitchen and living room from the dining room.
The trees started getting coated with light fluffy snow by mid afternoon.
This is our deck in the snow. We are slowly getting rid of the surplus of garbage we have.
This is the view from the deck during the snow.
My Budda being satisfied, I layed down for a short winters nap while the snow fell outside.
Budda...Budda....Budda......
OK, so we foolishly went roaming around in the snow. Thank God for 4 wheel drive. We went to Sears outlet, which was closed, then to the Asian Market to get Suyen's fish. Then we made our way to YJ's for hot chocolate. I got some pix outside of the falling snow. It was still going strong at 8 o'clock at night. We then went to Worst Buy before going to QT to fuel up before heading homo.
This is the same picture of 18th street without the flash.
....and again without the shake.
When we got home, I had some extra energy left, so I decided to counter attack the snow.
This is the view up the steep part of our driveway during the snow.
Nanook of the north with his trusty snow shovel...
By the time I was done I had to start over again...
The snow flakes really show up when the flash is on.
break time!
You can kind of get an idea of how deep the snow is getting.
I turn to show my best side....
Yep, a couple of inches...
Oh my aching back!
I survey what I have accomplished.....
Almost done with the walkway, I only have the driveway to go...
Ah the beauty of winter....
This is the view down the steep slope of the driveway...
The walkway is done! Can't you tell?
This is the aftermath the next day. It really quit snowing about noon. This was a nearly perfect snow. There was no ice underneath it. It happened on a weekend so no rush hour mess. The snow had the perfect wetness for snowballs, snow men and sledding.
And, to top it all off, it was really gorgeous to look at.
The trees had their branches decorated by snow.
We got about five and a half inches of snow.
Here we are driving to church via 169.
Downtown looms in the snow.
We are coming up on the Broadway bridge.
Suyen tries to get a shot of the frozen Missouri river.
This is downtown KCMO heading south on Broadway.

OOOpsss, Suyen tries to get a shot of Immaculate Conception cathedral downtown.
Here is the golden domed Immaculate Conception cathedral.

We are heading south on Broadway by Bartle Hall.
This is just a randum shot from the car.
I went to the Sears warehouse store on frontage road to look at refrigerators. I snapped this picture as I was leaving out the windshield. This is the engine area of the Kansas City Southern yards. There is quite a variety of color there these days.
