Up. Shaured. Dressed. Woik via 169. Loaded van 4. Went to QT. Bad drunk was hanging around. I had to get in via passenger door. Lori and I went to Shawnee Mission West High School for the 1st day of the F.I.R.S.T. robotics competition where the team will find out what they are to build. They also need to raise $15,000.00 to compete. My question is, why do people who are the real future and investment of our country have to raise money for their team to compete in something. I mean, when was the last time you heard of a high school football team holding a pancake breakfast or bake sale so that they can play in a playoff game? I think our country's priorities are whacked.

We headed back to the station after the contest announcement. I batched in avid 2. While waiting, I read up on the Oak Hill Partners Local TV LLC web page. They are the people buying the station where I work. Read the page, it is interesting...

I went homo. Suyen had great vittles prepared of poke chops, green beans, rice and gravy --- MMMmmmmm. We finished the Sinag-tala "Historia" dvd's. I started working on my desktop. I am making a dashcam timelapse. Hopefully I can do it for the entire year. Is that a resolution? Let's see.
19:00 - 22:00
Suyen had to drive me back to my woik to pick up our van. It has been sitting in the parking lot since mid-november, and survived miraculously ice falling from the tower. Two other cars that were parked right next to the Honda were nailed. One car was totaled. The builing maintenance person called me and asked me to move it or it will get towed -- it sat in one spot too long and is a "security" risk. After jump starting the van -- it needs a new battery, we went to YJ's. Sad news, Heather is leaving. Heather is the best person they have at YJ's. She is very nice and accomidating to the needs of the customer. Her boyfriend, Chad, is also great when he works there. He has another job that takes him away often. Heather is going to work for her sister, but she says she will come by from time to time and may even work a shift or two. She will be sadly missed.

I dressed and headed into woik -- woke up late. I'm woiking 8 to 4 today -- not used to the shift change.

I shot vo of the Paseo bridge. They are closing it down for part of the day. Emily found a nice side road on the north side that wasn't busy and had ok angles. I even got up on the bridge from there. I got a page from Paul, then a call -- said he'd been paging me (2x). I said I didn't get the 1st page -- I was sent to a fire in KCK.

I went to the housefire. It turns out to be the home of Danny Cox -- a legendary area musician....

Everyone got out ok fortunately, except their dog, unfortunately. I talked to Danny. He feels blessed that everyone is ok and that he is surrounded by loved ones. He didn't want to talk to the media though. A reporter later went to the house and talked to his family.

I was sent to Excelsior Springs on another fire. It was a dryer in an apartment building downtown. I got vo of that. I came back and turned in my tapes.

I met Suyen for lunch at Poco's. Mary was there.

I came back to the station, and was sent to the KCMOPD's PIO's house to ask him about an overnight homicide and accident.
14:00 - 15:30
I went back to the station. I was called out late to go get vid of some calfs that fell through some ice in a pond. 3 tv stations and a newspaper showed up along with lots of fire/rescue. Slow news day. We couldn't get anything though as we were not allowed to get close enough to get any pictures. The two calfs died.
15:30 - 17:10
I got a half hour overtime trying to shoot the vid. I then went to get gas at QT and then I went to choich late. Adela and Michael met me in the parking lot so I could give them the rest of the DVD's for Sinag-tala's "Historia."
17:10 - 18:30
Choich -- the epiphany. I felt disoriented and wierd in choich -- perhaps because I just came off woik. I talked to Spencer and Michael about the cantata and how to record it better next year.
18:30 - 21:00
Suyen and I went to YJ's. Heather was there. She works until next weekend, then she's gone. She left early to go to another function. The jazz went on. Ken was there and we all talked.

We headed homo. Watched the boob tube. I started putting more dashcam video into the desktop to be timelapsed.

I went to the bunk on Rainbow to deposit my cheque. I went to the Sprint store to get my evdo password. They said it wasn't on their end -- it was in my puter. So I got it working by changing my settings back to August. Then I went to Crave to upload pictures. I saw Jim Matt there.

Woik. I'm with NLE. There are tornado warnings to the southeast. Too far for me to chase. I started batching TKO's story into avid 2.

Right now there is a sever thunderstorm with good radar signature for a tornado. It is heading straight for Holden. I wonder if we are going to see a repeat of the Holden curse.
