Linwood and Main used to be the worst intersection in town about 10 or so years ago. There was a convenience store on the southeast corner that used to get robbed about every day. After the Glover plan was put into place, a new Home Depot and Home Depot were put on the corner and the whole area was extensively redeveloped.

This art deco drug store was built I believe in 1937 for the Katz drug store chain. It had an Osco until about a year and a half ago. The the CVS pharmacy took over and closed this location down at Westport and Main. Now it sits empty.

The church over to the left was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and was built in 1940.

After shooting vo of the fire on Campbell where one man was hurt, I drove up Troost. The building to the right with the googie on it used to be a theater. There is now an effort to restore it.

This area at 31st and Troost is what I call downtown Troost. This area suffered terrible economic decline in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. It especially fell down as did the whole city after the April 1968 riots. Now this part of Troost is showing signs of a turnaround.

WDAF TV FOX 4 in Kansas City. The station dates back to 1949. Parts of the building are about that old.

I came to YJ's for Brunch. Looking across Wyandotte on 18th, you see historic "Film Row" and all it's art deco buildings.

This is the neighborhood referred to as the West End. Some have taken to calling it "Little Mexico." It is a great neighborhood with lively culture and great restaurants. Unfortuneately, across the street is a liquor store that brings the whole neighborhood down.

While waiting for a call, I did some railfanning. I went to Santa Fe Junction Interlocking which is just over the line into the Kansas Side, with parts of it in the Missouri side. There is another railfan in the car. He introduced himself and we talked some. He said the action had been slow the whole time he was there. However, a few minutes after I showed up, things started moving.

I decided to see what kind of trouble my GPS could get me into. I went across the Kansas River into KCK, to see where the bridge at Santa Fe Junction looks like from the other side. I found Adams Street Interlocking, which is actually a very picturesque little area.

Sometimes you can sit for hours, and nothing, then as if a big cork has been released, everything floods at you all at once. I was headed back to put my battery on the charger and head out, when I was stopped by the train I saw on the Kansas side, plus a southbound Norfolk Southern mixed manifest, plus some engines shuttleing north, all at the same time.
