Election Day

On Sunday, I worked the 14:30 to 22:30 shift for Ryan who is getting married. I was to go it alone as there was no reporter to fill in -- I was supposed to do breaking news and vo's and stuff, but it turned out there was a diesel fuel spill at 83rd and K-7, so they called Rob in. We did it together and did a live for 5, but the thing turned out to only be a vo/sot at the most. So they had us come in and repackage the news of the violent night last night -- 4 people murdered -- it later turned out to be 5. There was also another pit bull mauling late yesterday.

Moanday I worked with Tess. I was sent out to get a vo on a car chase that ended up going through peoples yards in Overland Park. Well, I got to interviewing the neighbors, and they were so entertaining and told such a compelling story that that ended up being our package. The guy stole an suv in Paola. The On-Star system called the cops and tracked the car for them. They gave chase in OP, the chase ended up with the suv driving through peoples yards. The guy got away after ditching the suv, invading two houses, stealing a purse and another car. They found the car ditched in Lawrence. Tess and I also did a vo/sot on reward money being raised on the murders of the two college students at 82nd Terr. and Wornall in KCMO

Tuesday -- today is election day. I and Steve were assigned the Dr. Wheeler campaign at 82nd and Wornall. First we went to the Negro Leagues Museum where Buck O'Neil made an appearance after checking into a hospital. He is doing ok, he just overextended himself in the heat.
