20:24 -- The Waldo Coffee Cup -- 7408 Wornall, Kansas City Missouri
Suyen and I have stopped here after having dinner at Blue Koi. She is working 4 cases today, and this night may be another late night for her/us.
Speaking of which, last night I had one heck of a storm chase. It has been a busy week for severe spring like storms, and it hasn't officially started yet. Here is some Fox 4 coverage
, some of which I participated in....
Saturday I chased. Here are some video highlights....
I will upload some highlights to last nights chase as soon as I am able to. I also have some trains to upload, as well as a timelapse from last week.
Yesterday I came in early and worked with Sherita on a child safety seat story, which didnt air last night because of wall to wall weather coverage.
Tuesday 2-27 I worked with Leslie. It was election day and we got lucky and did the Alvin Brooks watch party. It will be Brooks vs. Funkhouser on March 27 for Mayer, which is great because both are great candidates. Either way I think it is win win for Kansas City.
Leslie is waiting for her liveshot.
Here is the team that brought you the coverage of the election from the Brooks watch party -- Barry is your engineer, Stevo is your photographer and Leslie is your Reporter. Things went very smoothly for us even though we couldn't hear much of anything throughout the night.
Here are the Grand Marquis playing at Alvin Brooks' mayoral primary election watch party.

I was experimenting with getting pix of the KC skyline at dusk with the olympus while we waited for the SNG.

Alvin and Funkhouser both nearly tied -- coming to withing 14 votes of each other. The "Funk" carried the mainly white north of the river suburbs, and Alvin carried the mainly urban south. Both of these guys are the greatest people in the world and excellent candidates for Mayor. It is too bad the racial divide comes into the mix when dealing with KC politics.
Mr. Brooks is talking about his victory to the press.
He is very happy.
Moanday I worked with Nancy. We went to Lawrence because Mass Street Deli is closing after 34 years. The owner, Bob Schumm is moving on. However, we ended up covering a house fire in rural Leavenworth County.

03:35 -- YJ's Snack Cafe, 18th and Wyandotte, Kansas City Missouri
Can't believe it is march already. Yesterday was gorgeous, but it heated up way too quickly. The result was supercell thunderstorms erupted out of nowhere and raced northeast. I had a feeling all day, actually all last month this would happen. It has been super cold, and now with uneven and quick warming of the atmosphere, it is bound to happen. So today after the low pressure cyclone passed by with it's severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, we got on the backside of the system with it's norther winds and cool temps. When I got up, there were snow flurries. Poor Tima needed a break from the basement. I let her ride with me on my errands today. I didn't get to walk her much though.
You know, the great thing about a camera phone is that people, or animals, who are senstive to having their picture taken, aren't aware you are doing it. Here is Tima without her "I don't wanna have my picture taken" look she usually has when we bring out the camera.
Suyen is pulling an all-nighter at MTN. So I took this opportunity to go to YJ's, which is open 24 hours Thursday through Saturday. I set up camp and started editing my Parkville train video.
I am here as Suyen is pulling an all nighter. I am taking this time to do some creative work which makes me feel fulfilled and reflective of my recent experiences.
Here is the video I just uploaded from the phone.....
First off, here is that promised train video.....
My next project will be highlights from Wednesday nights storm chase.

I just came back from taking Tima to the dog park....
After working at MTN all night, she was out. She was down. She was slain...
This is Tima's first trip to the dog park.
23:38 -- bedroom
We've just come back home from grocery shopping, eating at Taquiria Mexico on the boulevard,
and having coffee at YJ's during first Friday.
It was really cold tonight. March is in like a Lion this year. So instead of walking around looking at art, we were too tired from our late night, so we just had coffee and cake for desert.

I worked 6 to 2 today. I was with Kim. We went out to Kauffman Stadium...
We did a story about loyal Royals fans who waited all night at the stadium despite severe cold to be the first to get home opener game tickets...
People waited in line all night to get Royals opening day tickets, despite temperatures that were dangerous and winds that were howling.
When I got home from woik, I picked Suyen up and we did a little shopping/ran some errands. I took her to a furniture store I discovered called Revival. She likes the place too. We continued on our errands....
We saw some deer as we were running some errands on Martha Truman Road.
We ended up at the trailer to check on it before we went to Cargo Lardass where I FINALLY got a popcorn popper.... WOoo HOOO!
Suyen fixed us delish pork chops, and now it is time to retire for tomorrow comes at the buttcrack of dawn.

It is sunny, the birds are singing and I just woke up after sleeping off my tiredness from yesterday and Saturday. Kim and I had a rough morning. One man band crews on liveshots HATE doing places like Bartle Hall. You have to run a million miles of cable just to get anywhere, and it is still not enough. Worse yet is when you don't have the cable to do it. Yesterday we had to do look lives for the RV show. The cable reel in van one is broken again so I had to go off the side of the truck. We did one 2 lives, and shot 2 looklives, and only were able to feed one back before we had to tear down and run to breaking news, which was a guy found dead in Indian Creek at Wornall and 103rd. Jon was there and we camped out until we had exhausted all the possible interviews with anybody. We knocked on a couple of doors of businesses by where the guy was found. Then, later we went to the Children's Museum, and shot a package. The Children's Museum is in the dying Indian Springs Mall in Kansas City Kansas. Kim had to edit the story later as it was time for me to go home when we got back.
In the afternoon, Suyen and I took Tima to the dog park. It was MUCH busier and Tima didn't know what to do or think with all the sensory overload going on. We then went to church where I had a hard time staying awake. Afterward, we took TIma home and had supper. Ater din din, it was zzzzzz.
22:59 -- living room
Such a gorgeous day to walk with the dawg.
I took Tima for a walk. I et pot pie for brekkus, then dressed and headed into woik to see about my paycheck. Then I brought the puter to Suyen. She needed it at her woik today. Then I went to Crave before heading into woik. I was on vo patrol today.
Downtown KCK has sooo much potential. Maybe in some years a lot more people will see that, and this will be one of the nicest areas in the metro area.
I engineered Tom's liveshot down at the police headquarters in KCK.
I did two liveshots -- one for Tom and Rachael at 6 and another for Leslie at 9....
I engineered Leslies liveshot downtown.

Moanday I was on vo patrol. Tuesday I was sent to meet Sherita at 435 and Woodend in Edwardsville where two Kayakers fell in the Kaw river. One is still missing.
I walked Tima today...
Walking Gmai Gna Timaan.
I am presently compressing an edited version of the video of the stormchase from last Wednesday. Now I am getting ready for woik....
23:06 -- puter room
Just arrived home from woik. Here is last Wednesdays stormchase video....
Today I was sort of on a vo patrol. I got some maintenance things done earlier that I needed to do. Suyen's car wouldn't start. Hopefully it is the battery. We will see to it tomorrow. I had to get her from her work, we stopped and got some KFC on the way homo. Then I went back and shot part of a problem solver with Shelly. Then I shot Lori's lives. Aq eng'd in van 4.
Tomorrow is my 41st birthday
