Sunday 4 February 2007

04:55 -- Getting ready for my 6 to 2 Sunday shift. I worked vo patrol yesterday. I came home last night after running Bob's liveshot and edited the video from Friday with the crossroads stuff included from Friday night. Plus, I put all the stuff I shot of the dashcam Saturday.

Now it's time for me to fix brekkus and get ready to go.

This is a picture I took during a press conference held by local black leaders in response to the video tape of the KCMO cop dashcam miscarraige controversy. Alonzo Washington did not mince words when he expressed his anger over the incident. If anyone has read his blog, they would have known this was coming.

There was a little disturbance in the room as people were leaving almost before the prayer was done. There are a lot of people who hold prayers and vigils in this city whenever someone is hurt or killed, but very few ever try to do anything productive.

The press conference was held at the library at 6300 Swope Parkway in KCMO. Today, the police board met to discuss the issue....

Yesterday I worked with Kim. We started doing a Harversters "souporbowl" event. Then we were called off of that after doing lives for the 07:00 show to do a fire at a group home at 39th and Pennsylvania.

Yesterday afternoon Suyen had fixed beef stew. We went to church at Redemptorist. Then we did a little shopping. Later Suyen was hungry for pizza, so we stopped at Kelly's to have a couple of slices of Joes pizza while the superbowl was on the teevees, but very few patrons were there watching as it was super cold outside and I think most people preferred to watch it at home. Suyen and I then went to YJ's to listen to some jazz. Heather was cooking, and suyen couldn't resist a nice plate of mediterrenean food -- which was great. It was fun with the musicians as they even played a request for Birneys Tune. I grabbed the laptop and got on the internet to show them how the song went off of my video, and they improvised off of that. It was fun.

Today I worked with Leslie. There was a bus crash in Grain Valley involving a bunch of kids coming from a day care. We spent the day talking to family members about the accident. We went live from Research Hospital and I had to ENG.

The story I shot with Nancy about Rusell Easterwood, the homeless artist finally aired at 10 Moanday night.
