You migth be a bad barista if...
*You consider a 50 percent tip to be too little
*You have a political agenda other than providing good service
*you can't count change
*you write in your own tip on credit card transactions
*you give great service to your friends who come in, don't buy anything and drive off the paying customers
*you neglect the paying customers
*you fight with customers you don't like
*you consider people who don't dress or act like your friends as the enemy
*you don't use a thermometer in your latte and always serve it luke warm or too hot
*you get mad at people who buy a cup of coffee, then sit and read or use a computer
*you never get mad at your foul smelling foul acting buddies who come in, buy nothing, and sit in the coffeehouse all night or all day long
*you turn off the espresso machine before closing time
*you serve coffee that has been sitting in the coffee urn for hours

12/20/2007 21:51:23

This is the Christmas tree at the center of the Legends. It is remarkable to me that all the Legends is is a mall without a roof. While malls everywhere are dying, the latest fashion statement is more of the same, only sans the roof and climate controls. Americans have a strange way of reinventing old ideas, calling them new and abandoning anything that has a little bit of age on them. Bannister mall was only opened in 1980, and closed formally this year -- that makes it only 27 years of life as a mall. Meanwhile, the legends is only about 2 years old. In another 25 years, will this too be abandoned?

12/20/2007 22:01:14

12/20/2007 22:01:14

Post Modern googie at the Legends. Everything at the legends is done in a feaux post modern style. There is even a fake smoke stack at the center of the complex. This was nothing but fields and suburban houses 5 years ago. Now everything has been contrived and invented anew. Meanwhile, the real thing is allowed to deteriorate everywhere else.

12/20/2007 22:04:21

12/20/2007 22:04:21

More feaux googie at the legends.
