This was my "talkback" liveshot for Sunday Morning. I didn't have Kim with me as she was anchoring, so I had to solo. This event was a back to school event where a local hair salon donated their time to make sure kids had good hair cuts for the first day. It was held at the firefighters local union hall on Manchester and 63rd in KCMO.

4:30 PM-5:30 PM We headed out for church, but heard tornado sirens. We started chasing on Lee's Summit road in Independence. Started seeing rotation over Independence.
5:00 PM-6:00 PM We finally pulled over at Lee's Summit & Truman. Did a phoner & shot good rotation over the square.
5:30 PM-6:30 PM We went over to the K-mart parking lot at 24 hwy & 291. Talked to an Independence PD officer and got wet shooting th rotation. We headed east on 24.
Severe lightening & heavy torrential rain.
6:00 PM-6:30 PM We got off on Blue Mills road hearing from the IFB radio a tornado sighted in Atherton. We made our way to Buckner through the heavy flooding torrents.
6:30 PM-7:30 PM Rejoined 24 hwy -- headed east. Caught up to some amatuer chasers south of Napoleon. Saw great shelf clouds. South of Wellington we saw a brief spin up that looked like it touched down in a soybean field.
7:30 PM-8:30 PM We made it to east of Lexington when the storm weakened and we turned back. We shot some damage at a QT at 24 hwy by Salem East. Met Debbie and the kids there. We headed back. I edited what I shot for the Weather Channel.
8:00 PM-9:00 PM Taquiria Mexico -- I had C-6, tamale, burrito and a taco.

Josh makes the best Cafe Mocha's in town -- not too bitter, not too sweet. I was there catching up on my journal and hoping that Dave or somebody would be by to tell me what is going on. I talked to Brian, who is a talented local musician. Brian was a bit under the weather so to speak.

This is yet another disaster. Yep, that's a dearth of appliances in there. The house has never been updated and the kitchen needs help. It is a shame because there is soooo much potential in there. However, we'll have to let this one go unless there is a serious drop in the price, enough to offset the cost of repairs needed.

I love the styling on this house. This room is the most beautiful. Unofortunately, for the price of the house, it needs too much help. The roof needs replacement, there are bare wires everywhere, and the carpet is shot. Also, the AC is a littl funny -- seems to have been added as an afterthought. The outside of the house has been landscaped nicely, and the house sits on a great corner lot. However, the care that was taken on the outside seems to be lacking on the inside. It actually is depressing to me. I'm beginning to wonder if we will ever find a suitable house. UHG!

2:30 PM-3:30 PM Nancy called. We will leave at 15:15 to shoot a vo/sot on a mastodon found in the Wakarusa river. Vo/sot was in Desoto. I dubbed some Katrina file for our package tonight.
