I just got back from Cargo Lardass. I found an audio technica wireless for my camera fairly cheap. It seems to work alright. I left the house late -- about 16:30. I headed out via the back way -- 210 to 291 due to traffic. The weather this afternoon was goreous. I took Tima with me in her sweater. Before I came here and ordered a vanilla steamer, I took Tima for a walk around our circuit in the crossroads.

So I'm sitting at YJ's. I just ordered a soy cafe mocha -- ah my day off. Somebody just got the baby out of the mardi gras baby cake. The tradition is that the cake is free, unless you get the little plastic baby baked inside, then you have to pay for the whole thing. I joked that they could put a baby in every slice. They didn't like my joke. Then one of the baristas said, "have you heard about the scam that happens on first fridays? Someone is going around claiming to be from power and light and telling people that they owe over due bills to P&L and they'd better pay up immediately or they will lose their electricity." The same barista lamented that he heard that their is a new plan to bail out the Power and Light district. We all agreed that it is crappy that KC taxpayers have to "bail out" the Power and Light district. Oh whell, Mardi gras is coming....

Today I did lives with Kim. We first went to KCK for a double homicide.

Van 2 had a problem with the cable reel. We did our live tease with no problems, but no audio came out after that. We shot a look live and took the van back to the station. Kim edited and I transferred to van 1. We went to the Negro Leagues Museum for lives on the 89th birthday of the Negro Leagues. We then went to Town Topic on Baltimore where I thanked Liz for bringing my debt card back to the station. I had biscuits and gravy. We then went to Bartle Hall for our story.

I am slowing down the video clips so that my lack of usage of a tripod doesn't make people seasick when they see the still photo's I shot. I've made a couple of discoveries in the software that is making my job easy but rendering high definition video clips is a time killer.

I spent my day off dropping Suyen off at woik. Then I went to Wife's Enemy # 2. It is full to the rafters with schtuff. I talked with Rick about weekend liveshot possibilities at one of their recycling drives. I bought a surveillance camera arm and a pair of headsets. I headed to YJ's and edited on the Wake for Peggy Means at the Teehaus in Warrensburg Missouri on 19 December 2008. I got Suyen and we ate at YJ's. We were going to eat at Grinders West, but it was too busy. I took her back to work and continued editing at YJ's. I got her about 23:00 and we went homo.

I got up about 09:30. I got the puters to working. It is taking a long time rendering. I uploaded the OCA video yesterday. It is the first one from our Philippine vacation. I'm working on the other two that I have edited -- the trip there and our arrival/day on the beach. I'm recovering to my regular schedule as far as sleep. Suyen got up in a bad mood. I took Tima for a walk. The weather is really nice. However -- tonight, it is supposed to get stormy with severe weather tonight down south -- there might be a tornado outbreak in Oklahoma/Arkansas.

We are getting ready for the return home. This morning we got up and went to service with the pink nuns. Then we visited Suyen's sisters grave at the Cebu cememtery. Then we stopped at a kawfee house before returning home for food.

San Francisco airport. We are done with the Philippine airline portion of our trip. It was fine except the 747's are threadbare. According to their literature, there are only 5 of them. That is kind of a scary thought considering all the international flights they fly a day. The new technology that is supposed to make your flight seem short didn't work for the most part -- it is all broken or malfunctioning -- by that I mean the little entertainment systems. As long as the plane functions I'm OK.

We arrived back from Bantayan Island about 45 minutes ago. It was very stormy there. I thought we were having a tropical storm of some sort, but they say it was just the usual January weather. Our ferry ride was quite the adventure. It was scary really. A lot of people got seasick, including Suyen. It took us about 4 tries to dock at Hagnaya. We ate lunch in Bogol.

We got up to some sort of tropical weather. The wind is really blowing. I went out on the beach to get 30 to 40 mph winds on the beach. We went to choich and visited Pa's grave. We then went to the school and pretty much hung out all day. We had a meeting of the minds in the Library of the school. Sandro and family headed back on the ferry. They found that they couldn't take their cars as the water was too choppy. They later said it was very scary. We had lunch and hung out. We then went back to the cottage. We checked out a resort for sale. The winds and waves seem to be close to if not at tropical storm force. I was wondering if a typhoon was coming. We had dinner with the aunts at their house. They kidded me about being so reactionary to the weather. They said it was normal.

I've been sleeping all day. We just got back from Leyte this morning at 04:00. I'm feeling lousy of course as I always do when I come here. I've had a low grade fever due to a cold. Yesterday we drove all day all over Leyte. Bouncing all over the roads with minimal sleep didn't help my cause. Visiting the Macarthur landing site was anti-climatic -- but it was the journey really, as always the made the trip. I wish I could've enjoyed it more.

Earlier in the day, I went to Ninoy's favorite fishing hole -- a coffeehouse in the raintree mall. I was there with Orly while Suyen and her mother went shopping at Robinsons. I got the camera out and started shooting video of jeepneys. When I did, the Americans (Joe's) disappeared off the front patio, which is funny.

We have arrived at Sandro's home in Mandaue. On the Philippine Air 747, we got a medical mission on their way to Davau on video. I slept most of the near 15 hour trip. There was nothing else to do as on our section of the plane, the lights or the headsets wouldn't work, so we couldn't read or watch the video. I somehow did manage to sleep most of the way but Suyen tells me the rest of the passengers didn't because of my snoring. We arrived without incident. The terminal we were in was brand new in Manila.
